1. Life Includes Pain
Pain of disappointments. Doubts. Anxiety. Almost-but-not-quites. Changes. Fears. Betrayal. Shudda-Wudda-Cuddas. Frustrations with yourself and others. The pain of looking yourself in the mirror and seeing the one responsible for undesirable outcomes and experiences.
2. YOUR WORST ENEMY
US Navy SEAL candidates are 100% qualified physically, intellectually, emotionally and have demonstrated their commitment in getting to day one. Yet 85% quit. For 30-years I’ve asked audiences to name their Worst Enemy. When they inevitably agree that they are, I challenge them. If anyone were on their team, wouldn’t it be themselves? Your worst enemy is a part of you: The Destructive Side of Ego.
3. YOU ARE WEIRD
Other people are sexier, have more money, more friends, more influence, are embraced by the masses. Man is a social animal, but you know that who you surround yourself with has the biggest impact on your mindset. If attitude is everything, you are wise to be skeptical of they are selling. Questioning the popular thing sets you aside. Isolated. Alone in the crowd. But some concepts get passed your busy mind! If you keep waking up to find you are in the Passenger Seat of your own life, you’ll eventually be driven somewhere you really don’t want to go.

4. YOURS IS NOT THE FIRST RODEO
Success leaves clues. Life shows us patterns. While everyone’s challenges are special, different, unique – there are common denominators. The only easy day was yesterday. Those who apply learned lessons increase their mental strength and emotional regulation. Empathetically, we appreciate that everyone has his / her own Subjective Valence. Understanding the difference between damaging pain and discomfort, we use Objective Judgment to find agreement and dialogue (honoring your personal values as something you can pick up after class). Such clear headedness makes it effortless to authentically move on from limiting belief systems.
5. IF ANYONE ELSE CAN DO IT, YOU CAN TOO!
There’s no special DNA required to make a choice. Honest choices require voluntary exertion. Such efforts allow you to harness the Constructive Side of Ego. From the Driver’s Seat of life, even though your trials are distinct, these lessons learned are yours for the taking. In application, you can increase your Courage, Discernment, Personal Boundaries, Effective Communications, Resolve, Cooperation, Appreciation… all while enjoying more peace and fulfillment. Life doesn’t become easier – you become better.
6. Crawl before you walk
A net positive of any size is still an improvement to momentum. Exploring patterns, we identify greater uniqueness. Special situations are addressed with appropriate tactics. You’ll immediately grasp some while you wrestle with others. Like peeling back the layers of the proverbial onion, you can only see what you make visible. Some tactics you already know.
